The SLCLX group has been talking about getting an End of Summer Cruise on the calendar for this year. Doing something similar to the Antelope Island Cruise we did last year. The dates that are being thrown around are 9/25, 10/2, or 10/9.

What do you guys think? Any preference on the date?

Update on the Mopar Madness Cruise list below.

Here's a running tally of who's planning on attending.

I'll be out of town on both 9/25 and 10/2. The ninth is good for me but if the other dates work best for the group then don't let me be an impediment.

Crap, I forgot about our BYU football schedule but the game doesn't start until 4 PM. Please plan the cruise as you will and I will be there if I can.

Ok, here are the details on the second annual year end cruise, it's being called the Mopar Madness Car Cruise.

We will meet at the South Town Center (exact location to be announced) at 9am on Saturday October 9th. We will hit the road by 9:30am and head south on I-15 and exit at Thanksgiving Point. We will then head east on Hwy 92 into American Fork Canyon, turning off on the Alpine Loop Scenic Hwy (Hwy 92). If I remember right there is an over look that we could stop at for about 30 minutes (not a big parking lot however). The Alpine Loop ends at Hwy 189, we then take Hwy 189 North into Herber City were we will stop for lunch for about an hour. After invading Heber City we will continue North on Hwy 40 exiting on Hwy 248 and then head towards Park City. Cruise through Park City and then take Hwy 224 North to I-80. Take I-80 West back to SLC. Once we reach the I-80 and I-215 East Belt Way people can split off from there to head what ever direction they need to. On the date scheduled for the cruise, the weather should be cool enough for any of the older classics. The colors should be starting to change which will make for a very scenic drive.

The whole trip from the South Town Center to the I-80 & I-215 East Interchange is about 90 miles. With allowing for an hour lunch and a 30 minute stop on Hwy 189 (or 1-1/2 lunch), that would put us at the East Interchange at approximately 1:30 - 2:00pm. Plenty of time for people to get home to watch the BYU game or have the rest of the afternoon available.

This will be a joint outing with the SLCLX (Salt Lake City LX) group. Fliers are being designed to be put up where ever we can to promote this cruise to anyone that owns any type of Mopar. If you think you know of a couple of places you can put up a flier or poster let me know and I'll Email you the PDF file. We hope to make this a annual event.

For those that are concerned, there will be a pace car, as last year, to keep the highway speeds down so those of you that are running lower gears won't be over taxing your cars.

If you think you'll be attending this, please post up so we can keep a tally of how many cars will be attending.

If everyone could help pitch in and print some off it would help, especially on the color one, even if it's just off your color printer at home. I'm going to print up a bunch of the fliers in B&W and bring them to the Bar-B-Q next week.

Here's the link to get the flier;

Today I got fliers to the Larry H Miller Dealerships in Sandy, Bountiful, and Riverdale as well as Hinckley Dodge in SLC. Each of those dealers put up fliers in the service areas, waiting rooms, and parts departments. The local O' Rally parts house here in Syracuse was more than willing to post the flier as well as the bowling ally. That was a total of 20 color copies and 40 black & white. I had a bunch of additional black and white copies of the flier printed and plan on handing them out to every Mopar that I come in contact with between now and the cruise.

Other dealerships that need to be gotten to:
Quality Dodge - Tooele
Doug Smith Chrysler Jeep Dodge - American Fork
Brent Brown Chrysler Jeep Dodge - Provo
Ken Garff West Valley Chrysler Jeep Dodge - West Valley
Quality Dodge - Grantsville
